The blue hour

Designer: Jan Fabre
Belgian artist Jan Fabre captures the blue hour, the magical moments between night's darkness and the first light of dawn, with this striking limited edition six cup espresso collection crafted in deep, rich tones of blue. The gift-boxed collection includes a can of illy and a collection brochure.

Drawer, sculptor, stage director and playwright, Antwerp-born artist Jan Fabre enjoys international renown in many disciplines. Beauty and metamorphosis are major themes of his work, much of which is inspired by his interest in entomology, a passion inherited from his grandfather.

Thanks to his grandfather, French entomologist Jean-Henri Fabre, he got interested in the "blue hour", the magical moment between the hours of daylight and darkness, the moment on which nocturnal animals are asleep already and day animals are not yet awake. It is the transitional period in which the night makes place for the day, in which the energy of darkness and the moment of light meet. The black of darkness has not yet surrendered itself to light of the day.

The six decorated cups are blue, the color of energy which is prominent present at transfiguration which living undergoes when it changes of situation. From sleeping to awakening. The continuing bitrh of new life.
